HP Spectre x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-eu0000 IDS Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a Spectre 2-in-1 x360 (14 inch). I recently downloaded the HP Pen Control app from the store. Whenever I try to enter the app, it is okay for a second then says, "This app is not compatible with this computer." My pen came with the laptop, and the instructions say to download the app, but the app doesn't work. I have a HP Tilt pen.

Hi @TheRealRoro

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

1. Check the App Compatibility

It’s possible that the version of the HP Pen Control app you downloaded may not be compatible with your specific model or operating system version.

Ensure the app is updated:

  • Go to Microsoft Store > Library > Updates, and check for any updates for the HP Pen Control app.
  • If updates are available, install them and see if the issue persists.

Check the System Requirements:

  • Ensure that your laptop is fully compatible with the HP Pen Control app. Go to the Microsoft Store page for the app, scroll down to System Requirements, and verify that your device meets the requirements.
  • Ensure that the app supports Windows 11 (which could be a factor if the app was designed for earlier versions of Windows).

2. Update HP Pen Drivers and Firmware

The HP Tilt Pen needs to have the correct drivers installed for full functionality with your laptop.

Update HP Pen Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager by pressing Windows + X and selecting Device Manager.
  • Expand the Human Interface Devices section and look for HP Active Pen or similar.
  • Right-click it and select Update Driver. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
  • If Windows finds an update, install it.

Update HP Spectre Drivers and Firmware:

  • Visit the HP Support page and search for your HP Spectre x360 14-eu0000 model.
  • Download and install the latest drivers, including any updates for the pen, Bluetooth, and tablet functionality.

3. Uninstall and Reinstall the HP Pen Control App

There may be a corruption in the app installation, and reinstalling it can help.

Uninstall the app:

  • Open Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
  • Find HP Pen Control, click on it, and select Uninstall.

Reinstall the app:

  • Go to the Microsoft Store, search for HP Pen Control, and reinstall it.

4. Check Windows 11 Compatibility Mode

  • Right-click on the HP Pen Control shortcut or app icon.
  • Select Properties, then go to the Compatibility tab.
  • Check the box for Run this program in compatibility mode for, and select Windows 10 or Windows 8 from the drop-down.
  • Click Apply and then OK.
  • Try opening the app again.

5. Check the HP Tilt Pen Settings

The issue might also be related to settings or features for the HP Tilt Pen itself.

Test the Pen in Other Apps:
Open apps like OneNote, Microsoft Edge, or Paint and test the pen's functionality. If it works in other apps but not in the HP Pen Control app, the issue is likely with the app itself.

HP Pen Settings:
Ensure that the pen is working properly by checking the Pen Settings in Windows:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Pen & Windows Ink.
  • Check that your pen is listed and that all settings are correct.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi @Raj2111,

When I right clicked on the App for the properties tab, there wasn't anything there. The options were: pin to start, run as administrator, pin to taskbar, rate and review, share, app settings, uninstall, feedback on recommendation, and remove from list. I tried everything else, but nothing worked. Thank you for trying to help me.

Best Regards, TheRealRoRo
