Hi @DrewS1947,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing issues with the HP Performance Tune-up Check not cleaning or deleting items like the Recycle Bin, browser history, cookies, and cache, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the problem.
Restart Your Computer: Sometimes, simply restarting your computer can resolve temporary glitches. Give it a try and then attempt the optimization process again.
Update HP Support Assistant: Ensure that you have the latest version of HP Support Assistant installed on your computer. Outdated software may have compatibility issues.
Check for Software Updates: Make sure your operating system (e.g., Windows) and your web browsers (e.g., Chrome, Firefox) are up to date. Updates may address issues with cleaning browser history, cookies, and cache.
Run Disk Cleanup (Windows): You can manually run the Windows Disk Cleanup utility to clear out temporary files, Recycle Bin, and other unnecessary files. To do this:
- Press the Windows key, type "Disk Cleanup," and select it from the search results.
- Select the drive you want to clean up (usually the C: drive) and click OK.
- Check the boxes for the types of files you want to delete (e.g., Temporary Internet Files, Recycle Bin).
- Click OK and then confirm the deletion.
Clear Browser Data Manually: If your browser data isn't being cleaned as expected, you can clear it manually within your web browser's settings. Here are steps for clearing data in some popular browsers:
- For Chrome: Click on the three dots in the upper-right corner, go to "History," and then click "Clear browsing data."
- For Firefox: Click on the three horizontal lines in the upper-right corner, go to "Library," and then click "History" > "Clear Recent History."
- For Edge: Click on the three horizontal dots in the upper-right corner, go to "History," and then click "Clear browsing data."
Check for Security Software Interference: Sometimes, security software (like antivirus or anti-malware programs) can interfere with cleaning processes. Ensure that your security software is not preventing HP Performance Tune-up Check from functioning properly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
