HP Smart stopped working on my laptop. This has happened several times before and I tried my previous fix of uninstall then reinstall the HP Smart app from Microsoft Store but I keep getting error Code: 0x80073CFB. Tried all the problem solvers I could find but nothing seems to work.

Hi @jlwake ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Error code 0x80073CFB in the Microsoft Store usually indicates a problem with the installation of an app. Here are Troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Reset Microsoft Store Cache:
- Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.
- Type wsreset.exe and press Enter. This will reset the Microsoft Store cache.
Use PowerShell to Reset the Microsoft Store:
- Press Win + X and select "Windows PowerShell (Admin)" or "Command Prompt (Admin)".
- Type the following command and press Enter: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
Check Date and Time Settings:
- Ensure that your computer's date and time settings are correct. Incorrect date and time settings can sometimes cause issues with app installations.
Update Windows:
- Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates.
Run the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter:
- Open Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Scroll down and run the "Windows Store Apps" troubleshooter.
Check and Repair System Files:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This command will scan and repair corrupted system files.
Check for Disk Errors:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Type chkdsk /f and press Enter. This command will check and fix disk errors.
Reinstall the HP Smart App:
- Uninstall the HP Smart app.
- Restart your computer.
- Open the Microsoft Store, search for the HP Smart app, and try installing it again.
Create a New User Account:
- Create a new user account on your computer.
- Log in to the new account and try installing the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
