When trying to install the Intel Thunderbolt Controller Driver (sp81603)--version 16.3.61.275--through HP Support Assistant, I get a message that the installation has failed.

I have tried running the installer again, as well as performing a reboot and then attempting to reinstall.

When viewing the Windows programs and features, it seems to indicate that it was successfully installed, however, as I have no thunderbolt devices, I don't think I am able to test if it is working properly.

Any information as to whether this is a false-positive and it was actually installed successfully would be appreciated.c1.png

Sometimes it shows this screen as well, as opposed to an installation as failed, which indicates that it was successfully installed.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.

I have gone through your post and I understand the Intel Thunderbolt Controller Driver (sp81603)--version 16.3.61.275 was successfully installed but sometimes it shows that the installation failed.

If you have installed it through the HPSA and if it is showing up in Programs & Features, then it should be installed correctly and you might just be getting a false alert.

The best way to confirm if it's working would be by connecting a Thunderbolt device. 🙂

You can try it out whenever you get a Thunderbolt device and keep us posted if you need assistance

Thank you 🙂

I had the same problem and thought to remove the driver and try to reinstall it so it would say that it was already downloaded. How would i get the driver back now?
