HP Spectre x360 - 15-df0023dx
Microsoft Windows 11

My laptop that has been running just fine for the past few weeks, with all the same hardware below, is disconnecting from the docking station every 5 seconds. This started yesterday, randomly.

Devices (and what's connected):

-HP Spectre x360 Convertible 16-df0xxx purchased in 2019 (USB-C docking station, USB Logitech mouse, power)

-StarTech docking station (DK30CH2DEP, brand new) (displayport, ethernet, USB Bluetooth mouse, iPhone cable, power (also powers laptop))

I added Ethernet earlier this week because I think my WiFi card is dying (speeds would drastically drop, but speeds to work laptop were fine), and that all worked fine for 2-3 days.

I have done a full reset on the laptop. Still immediately had the same issue.

I also tried uninstalling certain USB controllers and restarting the computer (also recommended online). No good results.

I also tried a different docking station that was a little older (HP HSA-B005DS). It has the same issue, but much less frequently (4 moments of disconnect in 8 hours vs. every 5-30 seconds with StarTech)

I am convinced it has something to do with the power supply. Plenty of Google results mentioned similar issues relating to power. From device manager>USB Controllers I was able to disable the power management option of disabling the device to save power. This was recommended in a few places, but didn't do anything for me. I still think it's power related because I had one 5-min period where both the docking station and laptop power supply were plugged in (which it has been through most of this). In that 5 minute period there were no disconnects. As soon as I reconnected the power & docking station, there were immediate disconnections.

I feel so close to solving this and don't want to buy a new laptop, but I just can't get it right. I mentioned trying some things from Google, but I may have done it wrong. So don't let that stop you from suggesting them again. Any thoughts?
