We've tried just about everything Google says. We've been trying to get the computer back on for over 24 hours now. And it just keeps saying either "please wait" or "preparing automatic repair". I need to recover the files on this laptop then wipe it.

From repair screen, when it fails, Go to Advanced options → Troubleshoot → Advanced options → System Restore, then Pick a restore point from before the problem started, then follow the prompts to finish. 

 

(If you don't find previous point then select Choose a different restore point if that option appears. Look for the Show more restore points checkbox and tick it)
