Just bought the HP Spectre x360 15-df1010na and love it. Only problem is that the fans kicking in is ungodly delayed. Temp goes to 95+ under stress but fans do nothing for about 5 minutes. Once they kick in it drops back to the 70-80 ish mark under heavy stress which is fine but 5 minutes of 95+ degrees will shorten the like of the CPU if not straight up damage it. Saw another thread about it so please save the copy and paste response as ill answer them below which I have taken from the their thread as this is clearly a problem with the HP fan control software.
Step 1: Removing dust and lint by cleaning vents - Brand new machine just out of the box. No dust.
Step 2: Ensuring proper space for ventilation - Sitting on a wooden desk with lots of space. nothing obstructing fans.
Step 3: Updating the BIOS - Everything up to date according to the hp support assistant program. (there was one update which has not helped)
Step 4: Using HP CoolSense technology - Tried installing and is not supported
Step 5: Placing the notebook in a cooler room - This country has nothing but wind and rain. Its December. Everything is cold.
Step 6: Testing for hardware failure - Says hardware is fine. All cools down fast once the fans begin but the program takes way to long to do it.
If the Fan is Noisy and Spins Constantly, PC is Warmer than Normal: Click here for more details. - I WANT it to spin constantly. At least if im using heavy programs.
Is there no program to control the fans? I have tried some 3rd party ones but had no luck manually starting them. Only setting in BIOS that I can see is set fans to always on which was disabled and I have changed it to enabled with no change at all in fan usage.
I have tried all three settings in the HP command center:
HP recommended has fans too delayed and stops once they do cool down then go's back to 95+ and repeats.
Comfort keeps it cool but by reducing CPU usage not turning the fans up so I cant even run any of the heavy programs.
Performance works great once the fans start but ill end up damaging the CPU of a £2000 machine if it keeps spending so long so hot every time I run a program.
All I need is a way to either start the fan manually or have the HP inbuilt program do it when they reach 70-80 degrees rather then 5 minutes after 95+.
