HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Spectre has 2 USB C (thunberbolts) but only 1 is working. I cannot use the other to charge and when I connect anything to it the error "USB power serge" pops up. I have ran diagnostics, no issues to show. I have uninstalled and reinstalled.. does not resolve... please help!

Hello @VBL13,

By "diagnostics," are you referring to the HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI accessed by repeatedly pressing F2 upon startup?

This has happened on one of my Spectre x360 devices before. See if a power reset will help:

  1. Turn off the laptop
  2. Unplug the power cord
  3. Remove any accessories
  4. Hold down the power button for at least 30 seconds
  5. Plug in the power cord
  6. Attempt to turn on

Also, a specific model name or product number would be appreciated. E.g. HP Spectre x360 - 13-ap0028ca or 5MT98UA#ABL

Information on how to find a laptop's model name or product number is detailed in this HP document. (Please do not post serial numbers on the HP Support Community. The difference between a product number and a serial number is that the product number contains a # sign)

Kind regards,

Eddy
