Hi. Updated the BIOS via Windows Update to v23. After rebooting the trackpad does not work. I rebooted with F2 to run diagnostics and in that mode the trackpad worked. Diagnostics passed I proceeded to Win11, but trackpad in Win11 still does not work. (USB mouse does work). Any ideas? The trackpad is not a recognised device in Win11 settings.

Try these steps:
Run Windows Update: Ensure your Windows 11 system is up to date. Sometimes, additional updates can help resolve hardware issues.
- How to Run Windows Update:
- Search for and open "Check for updates" in Windows.
- Install any pending updates and restart your laptop.
Update Device Drivers: You can update specific drivers using Device Manager.
- Steps to Update Drivers:
- Open Device Manager by searching for it in Windows.
- Expand the "Mice and other pointing devices" category.
- If the trackpad is listed, right-click it, and choose "Update driver."
- Select "Search automatically for drivers."
Reinstall Touchpad Driver: If the trackpad is not recognized, you might need to manually reinstall the driver.
- How to Uninstall and Reinstall Driver:
- In Device Manager, find and right-click the touchpad device, then select "Uninstall device."
- Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically attempt to reinstall the driver.
Use HP Support Assistant: Access updates and drivers through HP Support Assistant.
- Steps:
- Open HP Support Assistant from the taskbar or search for it in Windows.
- Check for updates related to drivers and BIOS.
- Download and install any available touchpad updates.
BIOS Recovery: If updating drivers doesn't resolve the issue, consider recovering the BIOS.
- Steps:
- Restart your computer and press the F10 key to enter BIOS setup.
- In the BIOS menu, look for options to reset or recover BIOS settings.
External Mouse Works: If the external USB mouse works, confirm that the issue is isolated to the trackpad and not the entire pointing device configuration.
I hope this helps.
