HP Spectre x360 - 13t-ac000 CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

While I tried fixing another issue I'm having, something must have gone wrong, because now my laptop only charges when it is turned on and being used. I left it to charge overnight after draining the battery and it either charged very slowly or not at all. Nothing has changed with the charger, outlet I am using, etc. The only thing I can think of is that draining the battery really messed it up or the new power plan I made did... have since changed it back to HP Recommended Power Plan.

Thanks for any help.

Hi@tunatime,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing charging issues with the HP Spectre X360 Laptop. I apologize for the Inconvenience.

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to the latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
  • For Testing and Calibrating the Battery please click this link

First change the power mode to "Balanced" or "Better Performance" as the default setting.

Secondly, go to "Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options" > "Change plan settings" > "Change advanced power settings"
Scroll down, click on "Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Setting" > "Config TDP Level",
Then select the middle value for both "On Battery" and "Plugged In".
Thirdly, Scroll further down. Select "Processor power management";
Then select "Maximum processor state";
Change the value from 100% to 96% for both "On Battery" and "Plugged In" options.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
