I cannot get my shortcut keys to work particularly the copy and paste shortcuts ctrl c and ctrl v. I don't believe they have ever worked and I finally got to the point where I just want to fix it.  This isn't just in word it can be on the internet or in notepad. If I try to copy text in wordpad hitting ctrl deletes the text and hitting v puts a g in the text. If i do it online hitting ctrl opens up a new tab. I have the most up to date driver the Standard PS/2 Keyboard 10.0.10586.0 driver. Please provide any advice you might have.

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

You say these keys most likely NEVER worked?

Is yours one of the models that came with Win8, or did yours come preinstalled with Win10?

Asking because, if it's the latter, you should not be having problems with a PC this new.

While this PC is still under warranty, you should contact HP Customer Support directly to have them put you in touch with HP Technical Support to see what they can do about diagnosing and repairing your machine remotely.

I did this recently and the HP Tech was able to remotely access my PC from the Internet and do the needed repairs.

If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!

---------------------------------------
However, HP Customer Support is generally not available on the weekends, so you might have to wait until Monday to contact them.
---------------------------------------

If it's the forumer and you Upgraded it to Win10, most likely, the keyboard is simply failing due to use over time.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try: Notebook Keyboard Troubleshooting (Windows 10, 😎 | HP® Customer Support

If the keyboard fails the tests, it could be rather expensive to replace it given that it's not under warranty anymore.

Thanks Wawood. It originally came with Win8 and after a lot of headache I was able to update it to Win10. I don't remember if I had the same problem before updating it but it might have been there. It should still be under warranty I will get a hold of HP.
