After installing recent HP Support Assistant updates, my pc will no longer allow me to save to my desktop. I receive a pop-up saying I do not have permission from the administrator. I am the only user on the pc, and my user status still claims I am the administrator. The name of the computer has changed, as well. When I right click the desktop or any desktop icon and check properties, the name of the "other" administrator shows up under permissions, but mine does not. The administrator name also matches the new name of the computer. I'm not sure if I have a virus or if I installed the updates incorrectly. Immediately after they installed, my desktop was flooded with new icons with various letters and numbers associated. I'm a busy college student who doesn't know much about computers, so I just sent them all to the receycle bin. This was the first time the pop-up appeared, but I was still able to send the the items to recycle, somehow. Now that I have reason to believe I wasn't supposed to do that, I have tried to restore the icons on the desktop but I am not able to do so because I don't have permission from the "admin." Please help!!!

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. I would suggest performing system factory reset will put the computer back to the original factory settings in this way all corrupted and outdated software will be removed.
While doing the recovery there is an option to backup your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.
Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows )You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/
The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.
