I could not find a post specific to my HP notebook but I will mention here a part where the post person discusses 'greyed out updates. I have a brand new December 2018 HP notebook 17by0062st model with Windows 10 currently updated to Windows version 1809 and all updates are up to date as of May 19 2019. I began using HP Support Assistant with my brand new HP notebook laptop thinking it would keep my computer up to date with updates but I found this HP Support Assistant to be less than helpful. On my HP Support Assistant my Norton security software found Trojan viruses in a few of the downloads. HP says different that HP updates via HP Support Assistant would not have any computer virus or corrupted files. What I did on HP Support Assistant with those downloads Norton found to be infected is removed them from HP Support Assistant and now the downloads that failed that I removed from my HP Support Assistant list are showing greyed and inaccessible to ever download again even if I did get ahold of them. If there is a HP Support Assistant update specific for my computer and it fails then how are you supposed to get it back to install it because it is greyed out and inaccessible and if that particular update is a prerequisite then further updates will not install or install incorrectly or corrupt my computer. I also find that HP Support Assistant offers the exact same update that MS Windows updates already installed so my question there is why does HP Support Assistant not know what updates I already have installed and continue to show on my updates list? I don't feel the HP Support Assistant is a sound application and HP clearly needs to re-think what non-workable software they have provided to their customers that are supposed to keep a computer updated.

@HIuser3,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

Could you let me know from where did you download and install HP Support Assistant on your PC.

Do you remember what update did you install using HP Support Assistant.

Usually when installing updates using HP Support Assistant you should get any Trojans or Virus attack.

In this scenario, I would personally suggest you uninstall HP Support Assistant from Control panel - Programs and features.

Once done, restart the computer and then download and install the latest version of HP Support Assistant using this link.

Let me know how it goes for further assistance!

That said, If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution and Kudos buttons, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Have a great day!
