Yes, exactly. Uninstall support assistant, then solutions framework. Then installed from the hp support assistant website itself.
It's working fine. Again, this is after I rolled back windows.
I'd be interested to know if this would work on the anniversary update, but I dont feel like trying again.

Thanks. I think I'm on the anniversary update so I'll test it in a little bit and I'll update you when I can on the result!
Edit: Apologies for the delay, Windows is still downloading updates (and I was wrong, the anniversary update is being installed now) so I need to wait for it to complete before restarting.

Hi everyone, just a quick update.
I have not yet installed the Windows 10 anniversary update but can confirm that uninstalling HP Support Solutions before reinstalling HP Support Assistant has solved my problem.
Windows is still preparing to install the anniversary update so once my system updates, I will let you know if it continues to work.
For now though, Id like to thank phoenix1231 for solving my problem!
(I'll choose your answer as the solution once I test it on the anniversary update, just to keep this thread open in case!)

Hi everyone, apologies for the delay; the anniversary update took its time.
I can confirm that HP Support Assistant still works after the anniversary update.
For others facing the same problem as in the original post, you should follow the advice of phoenix1231 in the selected solution (uninstall HP Support Assistant and then HP Support Solutions Framework, then reinstall HP Support Assistant from the HP Support Assistant website).
Thank you so much phoenix1231 for solving this problem! 😄
All the best.

HI have an Hp Desktop and I am updated to windows 10 Anniversary update as well. Yesterday I started to have trouble when I went into hp support assisant and I clicked on About and I clicked on the blue button check for lasted version and then another window opened up saying checking for lasted hp support assisant and then a message came up saying that I had pending updates for hp assisant do you want to apply them yes or no I pushed yes. The thing is that this keeps happening over and over again so I decided to see if I could get the lasted version of Hp support assiant for my hp desktop computer so I went to the hp support website and downloaded what I thought was the lasted version of Hp Support assisant so I downloaded hp support assisant to my desktop and yes I went though Control pannel and went into programs and features and uninstalled hp support assisant and then I installed hp support assisant on to my computer the version of hp support assisant I currently have on my desktop computer is: 8.3.27.17
I should mention that when I click on check for updates and messages the window comes up with the computer come up it seems like things will work but it only gets to connect to hp server but everything else has a circle with an x it.
hope this issue or bug gets fixed soon thanks hp support.

I had the same issue... see my post from tonight (must use search)
Think I fixed mine by just reinstalling via the recovery manager and rebooting.. 🙂

Support Assistant told me that I had 4 updates but when I clicked on it, I just had the 4 squares rotating. I have it set to automatic updates. I couldn't get it to show a list of updates no matter how long I let the 4 squares rotate. I went onto a chat to try to resolve this issue. My chat session was quickly redirected to what seemed like it was not in North America. The person chatting , as soon as he heard my problem, immediately wanted to take over my computer and do it for me. I am reluctant to allow this as I wasn't sure if HP had been hacked at this point. When I refused he emailed me a set of instructions on how to do it myself. This included copying a pasting a long complicated link which still could cause my computer problems if it is a bad link. He has called on the phone to see if I had followed his instructions. Please let me know if this "redirect" is the normal.
