Preinstalled HP Support Assistant stopped running and has now "disappeared". Have tried multiple times to download from HP site using link available. SO after downloading, click to run. "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?", click on all the necessary approvals, then "C:\SWSetup\sp101214", then "extract files", finishing with "A newer version of HP Support Assistant is installed. Setup will now close". BUT I can't see it anywhere. Usually I have an icon on the toolbar to activate. Help!!!!

You said "toolbar" -- you mean the taskbar at the bottom of the screen?
Not all apps will show up on that automatically; it depends on your settings.
IF you click on the start button and scroll down through the apps, you should get to an HP folder and when you open that, Support Assistant should be listed. If you then right-click on that and drag it down to the taskbar, it should create an icon there.

OK ... but I told you how to add an app to the takbar.
If you're asking about the Notifications area, that is on the right edge of the taskbar, then you need to go into Settings, Notifications Area, and under the Taskbar settings, you see a Notification area where you can decide which apps show icons in that section.
