After uninstalling HP support Assistant (because of problem during installing updates and kept asking for a reboot), I cannot reinstall it.

I tried creating a new user, installing net-framework, disabling antivirus and anything else being suggested in the forums. The problem keeps persisting "a newer version is already installed".

The HP Support assistant icon is still on the taskbar, though not working (windows suggests searching microsoft store for an application to open it. I also tried uninstalling HP support framework and remaining appdata and program data files but HPSFTaskbar.dll is being used and cannot be deleted (even after safe mode windows start).

@panos395,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

I suggest you uninstall the HP Support Assistant using CCleaner. You can download the Free Trial CCleaner from this Link: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download

  1. In CCleaner, click the Tools icon at left.
  2. In the Uninstall screen, select the name of the program you want to uninstall from the Programs to Remove list.

Note: CCleaner is a 3rd party software and HP is not responsible for any Ads that might pop up

Restart the computer and download the HP Support Assistant Using Recovery Manager- HP PCs - Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 10)

Let me know how it goes for further assistance.

Well,

I am sorry to inform you that neither HP Support Assistant is in the list of program that I can uninstall via CCleaner (or  windows unistall), nor HP recovery manager is on my computer.

My laptop is "HP Pavilion 15-cw1003nv" bought 2 months ago. HP recovery manager was not installed on the computer and I cannot find anywhere to install it. I just found out that I could make a recovery USB by using HP cloud recovery tool. Unfortunately, I have only created a recovery USB using Windows recovery manager.

Is there any other way, avoiding recovering WIndows?

@panos395 The new update must have removed the HP Recovery Manager, don't worry about it, that's completely normal, that said, considering you've already created a new user account and yet the issue persists, please back up all important data into external storage and then, perform a system reset using the steps mentioned here to resolve the issue.

If you wish to thank me for my efforts, you could click on "Accept as solution" on my post as the solution should help others too.
