I was backing up files from my NAS (on a very small local network: PC, NAS, printer) to an external hard disk connected to my desktop computer via a USB cable. It was very slow and the Task Manager indicated that HP Sure Click Endpoint Service was using more than 90% of the network performance. The backup software itself and writing to the external hard disk used practically no resources.

 

Just for grins, I stopped the service and the backup software was able to use about 90% of the network performance.

 

I'm not sure what HP Sure Click is supposed to be doing. Hoping that I could configure it to exclude/ignore access to my NAS, I looked  for some way to configure it. Suggestions for configuring it involve typing "HP Sure Click" at the Windows prompt. On my system, it cannot be found. I'm assuming HP Sure Click was somehow installed with Wolf Security when I took delivery of the system from HP.

 

What am I loosing if I keep HP Sure Click from starting at system startup or delete it? As an alternative, is there some way to configure it to exclude/ignore access to my NAS? Or am I just stuck with it?
