I'm trying to create another user account on my new PC. I am able to go through all the steps including adding an account without Microsoft account information but less than a minute after I create it get an alert from HP Sure Run saying "A possible security threat to User Accounts was detected. Repair Succeeded." and it's gone. Is there a way to get HP Sure Run to allow me to add another user account, I want to do it to edit some details on my main account that can only be edited from another administrator...and also would generally like to have this ability on my computer.

Data on this subject is still a bit sparse - there is some reason to believe this should be the case since the whole point is to protect your computer.

In so much that I am aware, the mere act of adding an account would not trigger the protection.  Note that I am not aware of "much" in regards to the subject and it is very likely I am missing something.

First,

Try to create the new account as a local account as opposed to a Microsoft login account.

If that works...After the account is created, edit the account and change account type to administrator.

If that works, Restart the computer and log in.

If the account is still there, try changing the account to a Microsoft sign-in account.

No joy?

Found this - Not Tested...

Consider - Disable / Deactivate Sure Run

  • Start or restart the computer.
  • Press F10 during startup to enter the Computer Setup utility (F10 Setup).
  • Click the Security tab.
  • Click HP Secure Platform Management (SPM).
  • Click the link Deactivate HP Sure Run.
  • Save changes and exit.

Afterwards

After changes are complete,

Boot into Windows, launch HP Client Security Manager, and re-enable HP Sure Run.

OR

Boot into F10 > Security > Platform Management > Enable HP Sure Run
