Hi @utso112,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it is when multiple HP features stop working, especially after expecting smooth performance from a Victus laptop. Let’s tackle each issue step by step and bring stability back to your system:

1. HP System Event Utility Missing

This utility helps your function keys and system events work properly.

How to reinstall it:

  • Microsoft Store: Search for “HP System Event Utility”; many Victus users have successfully reinstalled it from there.
  • HP’s legacy download: Alternatively, use HP’s official softpaq installer:
    https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp101543.exe.

Installing/reinstalling this should restore essential HP hotkey functionality.

2. RGB Keyboard Not Working on Victus 16 Ryzen

The RGB backlighting depends on the correct software and key combos.

Try this:

  • Press Fn + F4 to toggle the backlight on/off.
  • Open OMEN Gaming Hub (available even on Victus models) to configure lighting settings. Make sure it's installed and up-to-date.
You can get it via HP Support Assistant or the Microsoft Store.

Also, confirm your keyboard and system drivers are current through HP Support Assistant or via the Official HP® Support for your Victus model.

3. Slow Shutdown & Black Screen on Power-On

This often indicates a system software or firmware glitch.

Follow these steps:

  1. Power reset:
    • Shut down and unplug.
    • Hold the power button for 15 seconds.
    • Plug back in and restart.

  2. Recover BIOS (if screen stays black initially):
    • Hold Windows + B, then press the power button.
    • Continue holding for 2–3 seconds until you hear beeps; this launches BIOS recovery.

  3. Re-seat Memory Modules (advanced):
    • If you're comfortable opening your laptop, reseat the RAM. Many HP guides recommend this for black screen issues.

  4. Connect external monitor:
    • Check if the screen remains blank. If the external monitor works, the internal display may need repair.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
