Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello.

I'm on an HP Elitebook 850 G8, and want to update my software. I'd preferably do it by using HPIA, but any method will suffice.

When running HPIA on my machine, the report says:

________________________________________

Drivers and Software

Drivers

Missing Drivers: 0

Out-of-Date: 0

Software

HP Recommended: 0

Out-of-Date: 2

_________________________________________

Further down, under recommendations, it says:

Software: HP System Information
Comments: HP Update Recommended

Target Image: 8.10.34.0

Reference Image: 8.10.36.0

Softpaq: SP143389

Release Type: Recommended

__________________________________________

My other report says that the installation is "Passed", with green letters.

For added info; the sp143389 softpaq is titled "HP Hotkey Support - UWP".

Here's the issue:

When I look in my Apps list in Windows, it says that the HP System Information tool is still version 8.10.34.0.

When I run HPIA again, it says it found a newer version (8.10.36.0), downloads and installs it. The installation is noted as "Passed", but as previously, no update has taken place.

If I uninstall HP System Information and then download it from the Microsoft Store (since HPSI is a UWP app), it downloads and installs, but still only with version 8.10.34.0.

This leads to two things and a couple of questions:

Thing one: I can never know if my installs are completed unless i double check every thing HPIA does, since it's reporting is faulty. That's a lot of extra unnecessary work.

Thing two: My update cycle never "finishes", so I can not be sure that my version of software is the correct (newest) one, since I'm told it's not, but I can't find or get a newer one.

Question 1: Does HPSI 8.10.36.0 exist? The report says it specifically tries to get 8.10.36.54, but that's not what gets installed.

Question 2: If it does exist, is there a download link to it? I have not been able to find one.

Question 3: If it does not exist, is the set version number for the reference image simply wrong, and that is says subversion 36, but gets 34?

Please address some of these issues, so that I can either get the correct version, or that HP updates their reference image for HPIA to reflect the correct version.

Regards, Roger

Hello Roger,

i have exact the same problem with a Prodesk 400 G6. And yes there is no softpaq for this update in the downloaded repository.

But I also created a repository for a Probook 450 G8. There was a "sp145069.exe":

TITLE: HP Hotkey Support - UWP
VERSION: 8.10.36.54 REV: A PASS: 1DESCRIPTION:
The HP HotKey Support (HPHKS) software provides support for handling the Hotkeys
and bezel or cap-sense buttons (fixed notebook buttons that provide quick access
to a particular function when pressed) for HP business notebooks.
PURPOSE: Critical
SOFTPAQ NUMBER: sp145069
SOFTPAQ FILE NAME: sp145069.exe

I installed this at the Prodesk 400 G6 and HPIA says all is up to date. This is only a test device. I don't use it at our client devices.

I don't know, if this is the right solution and if the hot keys at the included keyboard works. But the warning is gone.

I would like to know a correct solution.

Regards

Stefan

Its strange... I had similar issue where after installing SP145069.exe it still indicated that the update did not take place after rebooting the Laptop and checking with HPIA afterwards.  It remained listed as a critical update. So I tried to first shut down HP Hot Key service, and then  Installed SP145069.exe for a second time. After installation I turned back on the Hot Key Service launched the HPIA Program. This time it was no longer listed as a critical update. So the Service may need to be stopped before you attempt to update the driver. It took quite a few attempts to figure this out. Hope that it works in your case.

Hi,

the problem is not to install sp145069.

The problem arised by Roger and me because we tried to update HP computers with HPIA. There the HPIA claims a missing update about "HP system information". But at the repository and the web site there is no update with name "HP system information".

And I tried to solve this problem with a update which does not belong to a desktop PC. I don't know, if the hotkeys of the actually notebook 450 G8 update fits to the keyboards of the Prodesk 400 G6 repectively Elitebook 850 G8.

And why a update with a name "HP Hotkey Support" solves a problem with a missing update about "HP system information"?

And finally I need a solution for the repository of HPIA. So that a automatic update would work.

Regards

Stefan

HP SoftPaq Repository hasn't worked for more than a year. Apparently, They locked it down.

Using this site requires me to have a login with a password;

Finding Host ftp.usa.hp.com ...

[2023.04.22 22:36:29.133] Connect failure

This one required me to login as "anonymous" and with no password requirement;

Finding Host ftp.hp.com ...
[2023.04.22 22:37:39.435] Connecting to 8.252.177.245:21
[2023.04.22 22:38:00.476] Connect failure

The most recent update for the HP Hotkey UWP SoftPaq  (SP145609) would not update even though it had been downloaded, installed and flagged as "PASSED") using the latest version of HPIA. Program (SP145698).

it was notifying me after it was installed as "successful" even though it wasn't.

The command wrapper had apparently failed to properly execute the program.

So,  I stopped the HP Hotkey UWP Service (services.msc).

Retried the previous update procedure and this time it installed in the same manner with the flag "PASSED" being displayed. Afterwards I started the HP Hotkey UWP Service again. and rebooted. Then I checked the status of the installation by launching the HPIA Program and checking for any missing updates. It was no longer listed as

'missing and critical" and now was updated to the latest version.

Have you checked for it in Microsoft Store?

I have it listed as installed when I searched there for "HP System Information" App.

Hope that you figure out what happened and soon get it fixed.
