I have some issues with a HP Elitbook, the battery seems to discharge itself when the notebook is switched of. My first thought was "well, let's update all drivers and UEFI/BIOS, maybe that helps". That was a stupidest idea ever because the HP BIOS/UEFI Updater is not working properly at all and it is causing lot of issues now.

The Updater seems to update randomly firmware versions which cannot be detected (version 0.0.0.0) or should not be updated (same version). Some examples:

  • USB-C Controller Firmware is updated from version 2.1.0 to version 2.1.0 ... w-t-f! 😧
  • Intel Thunderbolt Controller Firmware is updated from version 0.0.0.0. to version 62.0.1.2.1 ... w-t-f! 😵

Now I really hope the updater will finish at some point without having all drivers messed up, currently it's stuck for one hour without any progress! I should have known better, it's always the same with HP tools...
