Hello! I recently bought a HP USB-C G-5 8 docking station for home so that I could set up a home office. I have one at work that works great with my work laptop. This setup at home also works great with my work laptop.
However, I cannot get my personal laptop to work with this dock station. I have an HP laptop PC 15-fd0000 and it has windows 11.
does anyone have any help for this? any tips? even downloading the drivers have not helped.
Thank you!

I know the HP USB-C G5 dock works with many machines specially business machines. Your HP 15-fdxx machine is NOT a business class machine.
What is your HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-fd0000 (794H8AV) machine ? It has parts on the following list:
https://support.hp.com/za-en/document/ish_7737544-7737589-16
which says it ONLY has a hopeless USB 3.2 Gen 1.0 Type-C port; SuperSpeed 5 Gbps signaling rate (data transfer only; charging or external monitors not supported) port therefore it is NOT compatible with the USB-C G5 dock and would NOT compatible with any USB-C docks.
That port does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to
- Charge your machine,
- Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter (some hubs may have builtin chip to support this)
If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only-total 3), you can use
- Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
- Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as
