I recently changed my operating system from the original Windows 11 to Windows 10 Pro. The touchpad still works in the BIOS but doesn't work anywhere else. Windows also doesn''t seem to see any touchpad drivers or have any settings for a touchpad. When I dont have an external mouse connected there also isn't even a mouse cursor.
Laptop: HP Victus 15-fa1000
Windows 10 Pro version: 19045.5854
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Victus 15 Touchpad Issue!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
This issue could be due to the touchpad not being properly recognized by the operating system after switching from Windows 11 to Windows 10 Pro. Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
Troubleshooting Steps
Ensure Touchpad is Enabled:
- Verify that the touchpad On/Off light is not amber (disabled). Double touch to enable.
Check for Touchpad in Device Manager:
- Open Device Manager by pressing Windows + X and selecting Device Manager.
- Look under "Mice and other pointing devices" for any touchpad entries.
Install Latest Touchpad Driver:
- Download and install the latest touchpad driver from HP’s support website: HP Support.
- Search for your specific laptop model (HP Victus 15-fa1000) and download the latest drivers available.
Adjust Touchpad Settings:
- Go to Control Panel > Mouse and adjust settings as needed.
Diagnose with HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI):
- Restart the laptop and press F2 during startup to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Navigate to Component Tests > Mouse Test > Pointer Test & Drag and Drop Test to test the touchpad functionality.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the laptop and disconnect all external devices.
- Unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the AC adapter (without external devices) and turn on the laptop.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
