This originally happened when I was uninstalling OBS, as the OBS Virtual Camera like replaced or did something to my camera as when I use an application that tells me what camera I am using, only OBS Virtual Camera shows up. After that, I  uninstalled OBS, and I do not know what happened but I guess OBS was interacting with the camera somehow and the camera said code 45 and that there are no cameras attached.

I had Microsoft Support try to fix this thing on my camera as it said "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45) To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer." I have gotten a level 2 person to try to help but with no avail, getting me to do an in-place installation of WIndows 11 and powerflushing. Can someone please help me? I also tried to uninstall the device and reinstall it, but when I try to reinstall it, it does not work, and I end up having to do the in-place installation to get the camera device back and still says either code 10 or code 45. After a while, the code 10 will turn into a code 45 either by updating the computer after reinstalling Windows 11 or just somehow does it.

Essentially what it looks like right now is greyed out and says Code 45. Screenshot is attached below. The issue at hand. The issue at hand.

Hi @royaldestroyer1, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the Webcam getting error code 45!

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Based on your description and the HP Envy x360 13m-bd1000 model, it seems like the OBS Virtual Camera driver may have interfered with the system's ability to detect the integrated webcam, leading to persistent Code 45 or Code 10 errors, even after uninstalling OBS and reinstalling Windows.

Here’s a structured approach to resolve this:

1. Check BIOS Settings

  • Restart your laptop and press Esc > then F10 to enter BIOS.
  • Look under Advanced or Security for any Camera Enable/Disable setting.
  • Ensure the camera is enabled.
  • Save and exit.

2. Remove Hidden Devices in Device Manager

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Click View > Show hidden devices.
  3. Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
  4. Right-click and uninstall any greyed-out camera devices.
  5. Reboot the system.

3. Use HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows:
    • Download: HP Hardware Diagnostics Tool
    • Run the Camera Test under Component Tests.
    • If the camera fails the test, it may be a hardware issue.

4. Install HP Camera Driver Manually

5. Check Windows Privacy Settings

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
  • Ensure camera access is enabled for apps and Windows.
