Yesterday, I experienced an issue where my camera was no longer being recognized. Today, I uninstalled the camera software. I am unable to locate the camera on HP's website.

Hi @ChaoticSerenity,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Wide Vision HD Camera!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager from the Start menu.
  • Look for any "Imaging Devices" or "Cameras" section. If it's not listed, check under "Unknown Devices."
  • Right-click and select Scan for hardware changes. This may allow Windows to detect and reinstall the camera automatically.

Windows Update:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Click Check for updates to see if Windows has the necessary driver updates for your camera.

HP Support Assistant:

  • Use the HP Support Assistant tool, which comes pre-installed on most HP laptops, to check for driver updates.
  • You can search for it in the Windows search bar or download it from the HP website if it's not installed.

HP Drivers and Software:

  • Visit the HP Support website and enter your laptop model to find drivers specific to your device.
  • Look for camera drivers under the "Software and Drivers" section.

Generic Drivers:

  • If HP drivers are unavailable, try using a generic driver from Windows.
  • Choose Update Driver in Device Manager and select Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.

Reboot Laptop:

  • Sometimes a restart can force hardware recognition and might help in reinstalling the camera.

I hope this helps.
