Hi Team
I need help with my laptop HP x360. Once I shut it down or put it to sleep, it doesn't turn on once I press the power. Sometimes I will long press the power button for about 2 min and it will turn on.
Everything runs smoothly once it's on. But today it's not turning on at all.
The battery is charging ok and doesn't have an issue. I purchased the laptop last year in August and it hasn't fallen or anything. I'm also not a heavy user on it.
Could anyone offer some help as am avoiding having it opened.

Hi @MKM12,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're encountering a power-on issue with your HP Pavilion x360 14-inch 2-in-1 laptop. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue without needing to open the device.
Perform a Hard Reset
Sometimes, a hard reset can resolve power-related issues. Follow these steps:
- Turn off your laptop (if it's on).
- Disconnect any peripherals (USB devices, external monitors, etc.).
- Unplug the charger.
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the charger and try turning it on again.
Check for Battery/Power Issues
Even though the battery seems to be charging fine, a deeper issue with the power system could be causing intermittent power failure:
- Try turning it on with the laptop plugged in, even if the battery appears fine.
- If you are able to boot, check the battery health status from the BIOS or HP Support Assistant to ensure the battery is not malfunctioning.
Reset the BIOS
A BIOS reset can sometimes help with boot-up issues:
- Power off the laptop completely.
- Press and hold the Windows + B keys.
- While holding those keys, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.
- Release the power button but keep holding Windows + B until you see the HP logo or hear a beep.
- If successful, the BIOS should reset itself.
Check for Any External Damage
Even though your laptop hasn’t been dropped or exposed to physical damage, it's still worth checking the charging port, battery connection, and any other areas for signs of wear or dirt that could be interfering with the power.
Update BIOS/Firmware
If the laptop does turn on after following the steps above, it’s a good idea to check if your BIOS version is up to date:
- You can do this from the HP Support Assistant app or visit the HP website to download the latest BIOS version for your laptop model.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
