An .exe file for a WiFi driver that I downloaded from the official HP support website has been flagged as malicious by TrendMicro-HouseCall following a submission to VirusTotal.

I suspect that the detection is a false positive however I would appreciate clarification from HP. I am unable to submit the sample to TrendMicro due to the size of the file.

The detection name is as follows:
TROJ_GEN.R002V01JK23

The URL for the submission result is as follows:

Hi:

This is a peer-to-peer forum.

We do not work for or represent HP.

There is also no way that any of us can even begin to help you unless you were to post the link to the driver file you downloaded so we could look at it.

All I can tell you is that this is the latest driver HP has for any of the Realtek Wi-Fi adapters made in the last 7 years:

See if this one passes the virus check.  It is good for both W10 & W11.

HP labels this driver file as 1.0.0.229 with a date of July 25, 2023.
