Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

So, I've been using this Windows 10 laptop, but recently my hotkey have been having problem. If I try using fn and either f5,f6,& f10, it shows an empty HP Hotkey Support window. If I try fn and f4, nothing happens. Fn and f3,f8,and f9 works.

Hi @Eliazos ,

In the meantime, please try this:

1. Update HP Hotkey Support Software and Drivers

  1. Visit the HP Support Website: Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. You'll need to enter your laptop model to find the appropriate drivers.
  2. Download and Install Updates: Look for "HP Hotkey Support" or any related software updates, as well as any available BIOS updates. Installing the latest version of these could resolve the issue.

2. Update Windows

  • Check for Windows Updates: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and click "Check for updates". Installing the latest Windows updates can sometimes fix these kinds of issues if they are related to the operating system.

3. Use HP Support Assistant

  • HP Support Assistant: HP laptops often come with this tool pre-installed. It can automatically find and install the latest updates for your computer. If you don't have it, you can download it from the HP website.

4. Troubleshoot the Keyboard

  • Keyboard Troubleshooter: Windows has built-in troubleshooters. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters. Here, find and run the keyboard troubleshooter.

5. Modify BIOS Settings

  • Check BIOS Settings: Sometimes, the function keys' behavior is controlled by settings in the BIOS. You can restart your laptop and press the BIOS entry key (often F10, F2, or Del) to enter the BIOS setup. Look for options related to the function keys or "Action Keys Mode" and adjust them if necessary.

6. Check for Software Conflicts

  • Software Conflicts: Consider if you've recently installed new software that could be interfering with the hotkeys. If so, try uninstalling it to see if that resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
