Hi @GarthJones,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We truly understand how disruptive it can be when your HP True Vision HD Camera stops working, especially after a Windows update. Whether it's for work, connecting with loved ones, or capturing important moments, your camera is more than just hardware; it's a window to your world. Let's get it working again.

Here’s What You Can Do:

Step 1: Check Device Manager

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
  3. If you see HP TrueVision HD Camera, right-click and choose Update driverSearch automatically for drivers.
  4. If it’s missing, click ViewShow hidden devices. If it appears grayed out, uninstall it and restart your PC.

Step 2: Use HP Support Assistant

HP Support Assistant can automatically detect missing drivers and reinstall them:

Step 3: Windows Update

Sometimes the correct driver is bundled with Windows updates:

  • Go to SettingsWindows UpdateCheck for updates.
  • Install any optional updates listed under View optional updatesDriver updates.

Step 4: HP Driver Page

You can also manually check for drivers using your notebook’s model number:

  • Visit the Official HP® Support.
  • Enter your notebook’s model (e.g., HP Pavilion 15-xxxx).
  • Look under Driver - Keyboard, Mouse, and Input Devices or Software - Multimedia.

If All Else Fails…

If the camera still doesn’t work, it might be a compatibility issue with the latest Windows build. In that case:

  • Try rolling back the update: Go to SettingsWindows UpdateUpdate historyUninstall updates.
  • Or restore the system to a point before the update using System Restore.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
