Good evening,
I'm using a HP Pavilion laptop and have a recurring "HPSystemEventUtilityHost.exe - Application Error" every time I start up the laptop.
A pop-up box always appears after start up, as follows :
"The instruction at 0x0000???????..... referenced memory at 0x0000000000000000. The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program."
I don't appear to be experiencing any issues, but I cannot update the laptop with any new updates.... It says "we have been unable to complete the updates, undoing any changes."
I really want to remove this issue and get back to safely updating my software.
Please can anyone help ?
Many thanks, in advance.

Hi @Driano,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're experiencing a recurring error related to the "HPSystemEventUtilityHost.exe" on your HP Pavilion laptop. This issue might be related to corrupted system files or a problem with the HP system event utility.
Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Run Windows Update: Ensure that your Windows operating system is up-to-date. Sometimes, updating your system can fix compatibility issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates.
Update HP Drivers: Visit the official HP support website for your laptop model and download the latest drivers for your system. Make sure to update graphics drivers, chipset drivers, and any other relevant drivers.
Run SFC (System File Checker): Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following command:
sfc /scannow
This will scan and repair corrupted system files. Reboot your system after the scan is complete.
Check for Malware: Run a full system scan using your antivirus software to check for any malware or viruses that might be causing the issue.
Disable HPSystemEventUtilityHost.exe: If the issue persists, you can try disabling the HPSystemEventUtilityHost.exe from starting with Windows. You can do this using the Task Manager's Startup tab.
Perform a System Restore: If the problem started recently, you can perform a system restore to revert your system to a previous state. Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System > System Protection, and choose the System Restore option.
Remember to back up your important data before making any significant changes to your system.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
