Hi @KT203,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Are you trying to use the F-keys for standard functions (like F5 to refresh, F2 to rename) or for HP-specific shortcuts (like brightness/volume)?
  • Do you see the “HP Hotkey Support” message every time you press an F-key, or only with certain ones?

Kindly find the  Troubleshooting Suggestions :

  1. Check BIOS Settings
    • Restart your laptop and press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS.
    • Look for an option called Action Keys Mode.
    • If enabled, you’ll need to press Fn + F-key for standard functions. If disabled, the F-keys will work directly.
  2. Update HP Hotkey Support Driver
    • Go to the HP Support website for your model.
    • Download and install the latest HP Hotkey Support or Quick Launch Buttons driver.
  3. Windows Keyboard Settings
    • Open Windows Settings → Devices → Keyboard.
    • Check if any accessibility or shortcut settings are interfering with F-key behavior.

I hope this helps.
