Hi Alitchee,
Well, there are so many types out there that it would depend on your preference and price.
Below is a link to a review site on cooling pads with prices and ratings to compare.
You can see people's reviews and check out which cooling pads are preferred one to another.

Your comment and suggestions show you do not have this laptop and probably messed up your windows install.
I hate windows, linux guy here thank you, but i purchased windows 7 this week and did the free upgrade to 10 and have seen MASSIVE improvements in the video as far as games go. Those who are complaining or returning to prior OS used the OEM version or a torrent to upgrade and should invest in BUYING the OS and then try to upgrade before the deadline.
Windows 10 has built in new security measure to prevent piracy. Eg; you can not do a proper upgrade to 10 from 7 or 8.1 if you have some torrents or 3rd party applications installed and you are advised to uninstall those and use a genuine version of windows 7, 8.1 or 10 and then upgrade.
Upgrade and then a downgrade will also leave errors, do not do that! I lost wifi off doing that on an OEM that was registered legally and then when it reverted to the old OS, wifi & networking was gone as well as the internet browser. Awesome right!?
All that said, just propping the laptop and cleaning will not solve this hardware defect. The battery also is garbage in this model. I got to buy a new one of those now too.
Thanks HP for the continual mediocre faulty hardware and unobtainable support.
