Hi @ZypheR1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To remove oil stains from your HP laptop's trackpad, follow these steps.

  • Turn off your laptop: Before cleaning any electronic device, make sure it's powered off to avoid any damage.
  • Prepare cleaning materials: You'll need a few materials such as a microfiber cloth, cotton swabs, isopropyl alcohol (at least 70% concentration), and distilled water.
  • Dampen the cloth: Moisten the microfiber cloth with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol. Make sure it's not dripping wet, just damp enough to clean the surface effectively.
  • Clean the trackpad: Gently wipe the trackpad surface with the dampened cloth. Be careful not to press too hard, as excessive pressure could damage the trackpad.
  • Use cotton swabs for corners and edges: If there are stubborn stains or if the edges and corners are difficult to reach with the cloth, you can use cotton swabs lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol to clean those areas.
  • Dry the trackpad: Once you've cleaned the trackpad, use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe away any excess moisture. Make sure the trackpad is completely dry before turning on your laptop.
  • Repeat if necessary: Depending on the severity of the oil stains, you may need to repeat the cleaning process a few times to completely remove them.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals: Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the trackpad or the laptop's surface.

By following these steps, you should be able to effectively remove oil stains from your HP laptop's trackpad.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
