Hi @sumithaldar,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When apps on your HP laptop close automatically after being opened, it could be due to several reasons, including software conflicts, system resource issues, or malware. Here’s how you can troubleshoot the problem.

Restart Your Laptop

  • A simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update.
  • Install all available updates to ensure your system has the latest patches.

Scan for Malware

  • Run a full system scan using Windows Security:
    1. Open Windows Security (type it in the Start menu).
    2. Go to Virus & threat protection > Quick scan.
    3. Perform a Full scan if the quick scan finds no issues.
  • Alternatively, use a trusted third-party antivirus tool.

Check Event Viewer

  • Open Event Viewer (type it in the Start menu).
  • Go to Windows Logs > Application and check for error logs related to the apps crashing. This can provide insights into the issue.

Update or Reinstall Problematic Apps

  • For each app that crashes:
    1. Check if there are updates available for the app.
    2. If updating doesn’t help, uninstall and reinstall the app.

Check System Resources

  • Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
  • Check the Performance tab for high CPU, memory, or disk usage that might be causing apps to crash.

Run System File Checker

  • Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
  • Type:

sfc /scannow

  • Press Enter. This will check and repair corrupted system files.

Perform a Clean Boot

  • A clean boot helps identify if a startup application or service is causing the issue:
    1. Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
    2. Under the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services and click Disable all.
    3. Under the Startup tab, open Task Manager and disable all startup items.
    4. Restart your laptop and see if the issue persists.

Check for Hardware Issues

  • Ensure your laptop is not overheating.
  • Run diagnostics (e.g., HP Hardware Diagnostics😞
    • Restart the laptop and press F2 repeatedly during boot to access diagnostics.
    • Run memory and disk tests.

Reset or Repair Windows

  • If the problem persists, consider resetting or repairing your Windows installation:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
    • Choose Reset this PC (select "Keep my files" to avoid data loss).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
