HP OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop Next Gen AI PC 14-fh0000 (9F2C1AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Is it possible to set the BIOS on this laptop, HP Omni Book Ultra Flip Laptop 14, to halt battery charging at 80% ?  My laptop lives a stationary life.  I'd prefer to leave the charger connected.  Now, I disconnect the charger when I'm done since a 100% charged battery degrades if it remains on continuous charging.

Is it possible to set the BIOS on this laptop, HP Omni Book Ultra Flip Laptop 14, to halt battery charging at 80% ?

Please provide the steps necessary for this model to get to BIOS and set it appropriately.

In BIOS there is "Adaptive Battery Optimizer" On or OFF.  It was already on.  Other HPs have an option "Maximize my battery health" which is not in this model's BIOS. Other company's per-installed software (bloatware) have stop charging at 80%. That's what I wanted this notebook to do or at least do it in BIOS. Hmmmm. Return it or not return it?

Hi @Cerito,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

HP laptops, including the OmniBook Ultra Flip 14, are designed to optimize battery health automatically.

While there isn't a built-in option in the BIOS to set a charging limit to 80%, there are alternative ways to manage battery longevity.

I'd be happy to guide you through some effective steps.

If you need to access the BIOS on your HP OmniBook Ultra Flip 14, start by turning off your laptop. When you turn it back on, repeatedly press the Esc key until the Startup Menu appears. From there, press F10 to enter the BIOS Setup. You'll want to look for "Adaptive Battery Optimizer" under the Power Management tab. If it's enabled, this setting helps optimize battery performance, though you may not find direct charge limit controls.

For managing battery charging, here are a few alternatives to consider:

You can enable Battery Saver Mode in Settings > System > Power & Battery to reduce long-term battery strain. Another option is to use smart plug timers to control when the charger is connected. If you prefer more control, consider third-party battery management tools that allow you to set charge thresholds.

These methods should help extend your battery life while keeping your laptop ready for use. Let me know if you need any further assistance! 💻🔋
