Hi @Jordan153,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
HP Sure Click is a security feature designed to protect your computer by opening potentially risky files in a virtualized environment, such as PDFs or web content. However, if you find it intrusive and would prefer to open PDFs in your default PDF viewer, you can either adjust the settings or disable HP Sure Click altogether. Here’s how:
Option 1: Disable HP Sure Click for Specific File Types
If you want to keep HP Sure Click enabled but prevent it from opening PDFs:
Open HP Sure Click Console:
- Search for HP Sure Click in the Start menu and open the HP Sure Click Console.
Adjust Settings:
- In the console, navigate to the settings or configuration tab.
- Look for an option that allows you to exclude specific file types, such as PDFs, from being handled by HP Sure Click.
- Add .pdf to the exclusion list if this option is available.
Save and Apply:
- Save the changes and exit the console. Your PDFs should now open in your default PDF viewer instead of the HP Sure Click viewer.
Option 2: Set Your Default PDF Viewer
Make sure your default PDF viewer is set correctly:
- Set Default PDF Viewer:
- Right-click any PDF file on your computer.
- Select Open with > Choose another app.
- Choose your preferred PDF viewer (e.g., Adobe Acrobat Reader).
- Check the box that says Always use this app to open .pdf files.
- Click OK.
Option 3: Disable HP Sure Click Entirely
If you want to disable HP Sure Click completely:
Open Control Panel:
- Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
Find HP Sure Click:
- Scroll down to find HP Sure Click in the list of installed programs.
Uninstall HP Sure Click:
- Right-click on HP Sure Click and select Uninstall.
- Follow the prompts to complete the uninstallation.
Restart Your Computer:
- After uninstalling, restart your computer to ensure the changes take effect.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
