Hello,
I just got an Envy x360 (win11) and am trying to get it set up how I like it. But I've encountered a problem that will likely lead to me returning the laptop if there's not a work around.
The keyboard has bright orange indicator lights for speaker mute, mic mute, camera disable. It also has the annoying white one for power, but if I can disable at least the orange ones, I can probably live with the white one since it's less distracting.
The orange lights are VERY DISTRACTING for me. I NEED to be able to disable them. There has to be a way. Right? Please someone tell me how to disable the STUPID ORANGE lights.
I just bought it with a warranty - so, no, I will not open it up to physically disable them and void my warranty.
I will not "just place tape over them" because - come on - I don't want a junky looking laptop or the need to replace the tape all the time.
Please, someone, read what I'm asking (i.e., don't "solve" something that isn't my question) and help me out!!

Hi @annoyed234,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Unfortunately, it's not possible to disable the indicator lights on the keyboard of your HP Envy x360 through software settings or configurations. These indicator lights serve an essential purpose in providing visual feedback for functions like speaker mute, mic mute, and camera disable.
However, I understand that these lights can be distracting for some users. Here are a few alternative suggestions you might consider:
1. Adjust Display Brightness:
- You can try adjusting the brightness of your laptop's display to reduce the prominence of the indicator lights.
2. Use an External Keyboard:
- You could use an external keyboard with your laptop. This would allow you to disable the indicator lights on the laptop's built-in keyboard while still being able to use the external one.
3. Customize Keyboard Lighting:
- Some laptops allow you to customize the keyboard lighting through their control software. You can check if your HP Envy x360 has this feature and see if you can adjust the brightness or color of the indicator lights to make them less distracting.
4. Cover the Lights Temporarily:
- While you mentioned you don't want to place tape over the lights, you could use a removable solution such as small stickers or removable tape that can easily be taken off when needed.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
