Hi @DeeJayTech,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to enable Smart Charging and limit your HP Envy x360's battery charging to 80% when plugged in, follow these steps:

Option 1: Using the HP Support Assistant

Download and Install HP Support Assistant:

  • If you don’t have it installed, you can download it from here.

Open HP Support Assistant:

  • Search for HP Support Assistant in the Windows Start menu and open the app.

Check for Smart Charging Settings:

  • In HP Support Assistant, go to the Battery section.
  • Look for Battery Health Manager or Smart Charging.
  • Enable the feature, which allows limiting the battery charge to 80% or a similar threshold to preserve battery life when the laptop is constantly plugged in.

Option 2: Using Windows Settings (If HP doesn’t provide Smart Charging)

Windows 11 doesn’t have built-in settings to limit the charge to 80%, but you can manage your battery to prevent overcharging:

  1. Battery Saver Mode:
    • Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery.
    • Set Battery Saver to turn on when your battery reaches around 80%.

Option 3: BIOS Setting (if available)

Some HP models offer Battery Health Manager in the BIOS settings to manage battery charging behavior.

Enter BIOS:

  • Restart your laptop, and when it’s starting up, repeatedly press Esc or F10 to enter the BIOS setup.

Find Battery Management:

  • Navigate to the Advanced or Power tab.
  • Look for Battery Health Manager or a similar option.
  • Enable the mode that limits the battery charge to around 80%.

Save and Exit:

  • Save the changes and exit the BIOS.

None of those options will solve the problem.

I do not see Smart Charging Settings, in the HP Support Assistant.

It appears that using the Windows Settings will reduce the performance of the laptop, and there are no Battery Health Manager in the BIOS settings.
