Yesterday I download a driver booster software to check all of my driver's condition but when it finished scan, it automatically started to install a driver, in that time I would not able to understood which driver was updated. But when I open my laptop today, I noticed it was taking too much time to bootup even it became some laggy laggy after that. By acking  to chatgpt I can understand that the issue was with my storage driver controller of HDD. So I Install it from Hp driver website but it is not like that kind of smooth like the previous one. The new driver is not working like previous one but it is working smooth when I consistently doing some thing  bit, when I keep my laptop alone for some time then open it then it's like stuck for when in several time. So How can I make this like my older one? Or have there any other wrong to act like this? Please help me

Hi @Samir001,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To ensure your HP laptop is running optimally, especially when it comes to storage controllers, it’s important to install the correct and most up-to-date drivers directly from HP, rather than relying on third-party software. Here’s how you can manage and update your storage drivers effectively:

Visit the Official HP Support Website:

  • Go to the HP Support Website.
  • Use the search feature to locate your specific laptop model by entering your product name or serial number.

Access Drivers and Software:

  • Once you've located your HP laptop model, navigate to the "Drivers & Software" section.
  • Select the appropriate operating system version your laptop is running.

Download the Storage/Chipset Drivers:

  • Look for the latest storage or chipset drivers available for your laptop.
  • Download and install these drivers. They are specifically optimized for your HP hardware.

Use HP Support Assistant:

  • HP offers a tool called HP Support Assistant which helps manage and update drivers.
  • Install or launch HP Support Assistant, and use it to check for and apply updates specific to your system, including any storage drivers.

Verify Driver Installation:

  • Post-installation, restart your laptop to ensure changes take effect.
  • Verify driver installation through Device Manager: Open Device Manager, expand the "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" or "Storage Controllers" section to check if the drivers are properly installed.

Following these steps should help in optimizing your storage controller settings to improve your laptop’s performance. Avoid using third-party driver updater software as it can sometimes install incorrect drivers, leading to issues like lagging and slow boot times.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
