Hi @Galaxyman98005,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Updating the BIOS on your HP laptop can help resolve issues, such as being unable to update Windows. Here's how you can update your HP laptop's BIOS.
Update the BIOS via HP Support Website
Identify your BIOS version:
- Press Windows + R, type msinfo32, and press Enter.
- In the System Information window, look for BIOS Version/Date.
- Note the current BIOS version and compare it to the version on HP's website.
Go to HP's official support website:
- Visit HP Software and Driver Downloads.
- Enter your laptop model or use HP's auto-detect feature.
- Under the Drivers section, find the latest BIOS update for your laptop.
Download the BIOS update:
- Select the latest BIOS version and download it.
- Ensure your laptop is connected to a power source before proceeding.
Run the downloaded file:
- Open the downloaded file, and follow the on-screen instructions to update the BIOS.
- The system will restart, and the BIOS will be updated.
Use HP Support Assistant
Download and install HP Support Assistant:
- If you don't have it installed, download HP Support Assistant.
Check for updates:
- Open HP Support Assistant and navigate to the Updates section.
- Check for BIOS updates and follow the prompts to download and install.
Important Notes:
- Make sure the laptop is plugged into a power source during the update process.
- Do not interrupt the update once it begins, as it can cause system issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
