HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-cx0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I bought this laptop, I noticed to greater/less than button isn't working as it should be, but as a CTRL button. I can't find where I can change this, and I really need this button to work for programming etc. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand, greater or less than the key is not working,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824

(Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

When was the last time it worked fine?

Were there any hardware/software changes made?

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps on the keyboard?

Have you tried checking connecting an external keyboard?

While you respond to that, let's perform a BIOS update following steps from the link: Click here

Once I have the information, I'll help you further with troubleshooting steps,

Keep me posted!

Cheers!

To the right of the space-bar, is there a key labelled "Alternate Graphic" or "ALT GR" ?

If so, hold-down that key, and press '<' or '>'.

What do you see?

Or ........

1. Settings.

2. Region and Language.

3. Keyboards and Languages.

4. Change keyboards.

What languages are installed?

Remove the ones that you never use.

Restart your computer.

Better?

Hi!

What is the product number of your device?  The link didn't work but I think it's 4DF12EA#UUG.

When was the last time it worked fine?  It never worked, I bought the computer on August 28th and it was until September 24th that I noticed it didn't work, before that, I never used that key.

Were there any hardware/software changes made?  No.

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps on the keyboard?  Yes, nothing worked, idem dito with language settings or qwerty/azerty.

Have you tried checking connecting an external keyboard? No, but I don't have an extra keyboard.

Isn't there  way to change the keys on my keyboard manually?

Your computer: HP Gaming Pavilion - 15-cx0048nb

From this image

it seems like all you need to do is to use the SHIFT key, or, as you indicated, the CTRL key.

Correct?
