@Aquamaria27, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating to have that camera icon constantly popping up! Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:

Check Camera Privacy Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
  • Ensure that apps are allowed to access your camera. You can toggle off access for apps that you don't want using the camera.

Disable the Camera:

  • Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand the Cameras category.
  • Right-click on your camera device and select Disable device. This should stop the icon from appearing.

Update or Reinstall Camera Drivers:

  • In Device Manager, right-click on your camera device and select Update driver.
  • If updating doesn't help, you can try uninstalling the driver and then restarting your laptop. Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.

Check for Background Apps:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  • Look for any apps that might be using the camera and close them.

Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Select Camera and run the troubleshooter

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
