I want to update my laptop's BIOS to the latest version. Every time I restart it so it can prompt the BIOS to update it just boots straight into Windows. I check the BIOS version and it's still the same. I used the HP support assistant to update it. Also the laptop's model number is (m1-u001dx). Any solutions?

Not sure.

Before you make any changes, make sure you have backed up your most critical data to other than the computer. For example, back up your important folders and files to the Cloud, to a USB stick, to a data storage (NAS), "somewhere" that you can access the data in the event that the computer becomes unavailable.
If you have not done so, manually check and possibly update (if needed) any other HP software and drivers. As well, in general, everything tends to work better if Windows Updates are installed and current.

You could try stepping up from the version you have loaded to the next newer version.
Open the section "Revision history" and scroll down to see information and download options.

Open the HP Support Assistant - find the listing for the BIOS update and set it to be ignored (or trashed - whatever is available).
- Open your computer's software and driver support website and select / open the BIOS category.
- Click See full details which opens the actual website page for the BIOS update
- Read all the information in each section - BIOS is fussy and delicate - read and be informed.
- Notebook? Plug the device into AC power - leave connected to AC power the entire time the BIOS is updating.
- Download and Save the BIOS update to your computer
- Stop all other programs (browsers, games, editors, email, etc)
- Open File Explorer (formally Windows Explorer)
- Navigate to the folder where you saved the BIOS update file, likely Downloads
- Double-tap on the installation file to start the update.

When the application that updates the BIOS restarts my computer, nothing happens, the computer boots straight into Windows without updating the BIOS. I followed the instructions you gave me but the same thing still happens.

It is possible there is something going on, of course - or perhaps the BIOS does not need an update.
You can check to see which version of the BIOS is already installed (currently running).
Control Panel > icon view > Administrative Tools > System Information
System Summary - Check the information next to BIOS Version / Date
Regardless,
If the BIOS does not update, in so much that I am aware, there is no safe way to force the issue.

You are welcome.
It might be possible to step forward - or, if you are satisfied and the computer is happy the way it is now, leave it.
In general, it is best to only update the BIOS when you have reason to do so.
The HP Support Assistant is not always the best tool to update the BIOS.
Open HPSA Software
Settings > Set to “Notify” as opposed to “Auto-Update”
Save Changes > Restart the computer and log in
Open HPSA
Check for Updates > Use the list to determine candidates for update
If BIOS is offered, set to “ignore” or otherwise remove this update from list of potential updates
Install other HP software and updates using HPSA or manually install those updates
Happy Computing!
