I need to update the firmware on my HP Pavilion dv7-7027cl notebook

Don't understand what you mean by "updating the firmware".

 

The only firmware that can be updated on the motherboard is the BIOS, and HP makes their BIOS updates OS-version specific but has no BIOS updates for Win10.  Any updates they have for Win7 or Win8 will not run under Win10.
