HP Laptop PC 17-by4000 (18B36AV)

I recently flashed the bios to the latest version, and now it shows the SN as all zeros  Is there a way to recover or fix this?

Thanks!

Hi @camccardell,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When a BIOS flash results in the loss or corruption of the serial number (SN) displayed in the BIOS, it indicates that the data area where the serial number is stored has been affected. You may try the steps mentioned below.

Check for a BIOS Update: First, check if HP has released any newer BIOS updates that address this issue. Sometimes, a BIOS update can have bugs that cause issues like these, and HP often releases a new version to fix them.

Please help us with the laptop serial number or the product number in a private message for further assistance. I will share the link for the latest bios version.

Here is the link to find the product number:- Click here
