This topic was previously archived. I returned my HP laptop . I need to know how do I unregistered the product to my name. HP support - They used their Technical Support, and Registration team to no avail. Stated there is no way to unregistered a product. Tech support suggested I delete my HP account but there is no account deletion capability. Try VA to submit an on-line ticket but VA just operates a chat session. I want to make it easier for the "new" owner to register the item when it is re-sold.

If HP Technical Support says there is no way to "unregister" the original registration on the product, there there is likely no way to do it. Regardless, our community has no influence in the matter - HP speaks for "things that are HP".
Commentary
It may not matter - registration, for example on a new product, confirms the warranty status of the device. While this is important, personal registration (or lack of) in no way precludes warranty service or alters that status of the actual device (computer / printer).
A device can also be added to the HP Support Assistant (sometimes automatically). If you no longer have the device for any reason, you can remove that entry from the HP Support Assistant software.
Remove Devices from HP Support Assistant
If you have the HPSA software installed but it is not on your Taskbar (by choice),
Windows key > list by "All Apps" > scroll to category H >
Open Section HP Help and Support
Open the HP Support Assistant
Open HPSA
Tab My Devices
Click on an "old" device, that is, a device that you do not own and / or do not wish HPSA to manage or "see".
Click on "Edit this device"
Click on "Remove this device"
If you no longer own any HP products and you wish to leave the Community, you can send a Private Message to the Moderators of this community and ask that your HP account be removed. I have never tried to leave since joining all the years ago and cannot say whether this is even necessary - you could, for example, just leave without consequence or concern.

Thank you for the quick reply. I realized the community is concerned with technical issues and not with issues with HP's web site, help desk software or just poor customer service. Since I found the topic was archive, I decided to try and see if there was any legacy information that the community might have before this topic was archived. Again thanks for quick reply.

You are welcome.
Of course we are concerned about poor customer service - we are, after all, a community of users and owners of HP technology just like yourself.
In this case, our community cannot address how HP handles internal information. There is not likely a need to be concerned. You may, in the course of time, sell or give away your equipment as you choose. There is no need to "unregister" that you are / were the first owner of the equipment.
Once the (new) owner receives and sets up the computer, it will be added to the HP Support Assistant for the purpose of tracking and (if set to do so) installing HP software and drivers relevant to the computer's hardware and Operating System version.
In addition, the new owner can subscribe to HP Alerts (optional) to receive email bulletins and updates about his HP equipment. Alerts and bulletin information is also available in the computer's Website Support Homepage (no need to receive / check email to view).
If the issue about which you are concerned is Warranty repair, then we (our community) cannot address those questions. You do, however, have access to the information about the general warranty. I have posted the general documents in this message.
Care Packs (purchased extended warranty packages) differ by contract - Care Pack warranties are not addressed here.
Details, questions, any information about the exact "what, why, how" must be answered by HP Support.
Warranty Check
NOTE: If the single-system-check fails to find your device, use the "multiple devices" method to
check single or multiple devices.
- If necessary, Select your Country on the main website page
- Scroll down > To the right of Check multiple warranties, Click Continue
- Enter the Serial Number and Countryfor one or more devices / systems to be checked
- Check the box to verify you are "Not a robot"
- Click Submit(at bottom of list entries)
- When the page opens, Click View Details
NOTE: Do not be distressed if the information you seek is not (yet) available online. Whether or not the online database shows your information does not impact the actual contract.
Warranty Dispute
Excerpted: If you think the warranty details of your product are incorrect, submit a dispute through the HP warranty validation website.
HP Limited Warranty Statements (General Information)
Standard Warranty, that is, the warranty included with the device, typically covers hardware as explained in the Warranty document. Optional Care Pack warranties differ by contract.
I am sorry you are unhappy - no one wants that.
