Microsoft Windows 11

Hi All,
I just purchased a HP laptop 14 (14-ep1072nr).
I am trying to setup an option to have the laptop boot after a power loss. So if my power goes out, once it is restored the laptop will see the power and auto-start. Everything I find online says I need to go into the advanced settings in the BIOS, but that option is not available. How can I achieve this? How can I setup this laptop to auto-boot once power is restored?

Hi @Leebo69,

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand you want your HP Laptop 14 (14-ep1072nr) to automatically power back on after a power loss. Currently, HP consumer laptops don’t include a BIOS setting for “Power On after AC loss” or “Auto Power On” like desktops do, which is why you don’t see the option in your BIOS.

What you can try:

Check BIOS Updates – Visit the HP Support site for your model and install the latest BIOS update, in case the feature has been added.

Use Wake Timers – In Windows, you can configure scheduled power-on using Task Scheduler + Wake Timers (works only if the laptop still has battery power).

External Solutions – For true “power loss recovery” behavior, this feature is not supported on HP laptops. You would need to manually power it on after power is restored.

If this function is critical, HP business laptops or desktops may better suit the requirement, as they often include a “Power On after AC Loss” option.I hope this helps.
