HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p287sa
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am using the system daily for Office Visual basic development, with zero problems until this driver was installed afer a full restart. How can I uninstall - and preferably block - this update?

The VB Find Replace dialog box is now unusable - see clip

This is the second time this update has been offered

I had to do a full system recovery on the first occasion, but this cannot continue.

As I say, the system is unusable for my purposes

Windows 10 pushes and enforces updates to the operating system.

It does not enforce updates of device drivers.

Control Panel-> Programs --> Programs and Features --> installed updates

To control the device driver updates:

"

How to Disable Automatic Driver Downloads on Windows 10
  1. Right-click the Start button and select Control Panel.
  2. 2. Make your way to System and Security.
  3. Click System.
  4. Click Advanced system settings from the left sidebar.
  5. Select the Hardware tab.
  6. Press the Device Installation Settings button.
  7. Choose No, and then press the Save Changes button."

 Good find!

Run the suggested link provided in the post to find and remove the offending driver.

How about checking in Windows updates to see what that driver was?

View the installed updates and make the changes you need.

We would have no idea what HP driver v7.0.2.1 would be. That is a description that is too generic to be of use to us to help you.

Even Google has no clue as to what it is.

View the update history to locate the driver and uninstall it. You can uninstall the driver and block it from reinstalling.

You should take control of your updates instead of just giving your operating system cart Blanche to install automatically whatever it wants.  This was your own choice and you should take action by not letting the driver install.

Automatic update and install is not a viable option for me and I chose to control the updates that take place.

Shouldn't you do the same?

Thanks very much for prompt reply.

Done that.

Couldn't find a way to uninstall or any useful info about it

a) I did Settings>Windows Update>View  Update History and followed Advanced Options -  All NO JOY

b) I did Control Panel>Programs and Features > Installed Updates and it wasn't listed

c) Finally I went to the MS Catalog and, yes,  I should have posted the link or the long, very generic, description about "Upgrade and Servicing Drivers".  Again, I found no actual help there for the non-professional like me to uninstall or block. Which is why I came here.

Can you advise me how to "take control" of Windows Updates under Win 10 Home?

As I understand it, MS enforce Automatic Updates in Home Editions of Win 10

Or am I missing something?

BTW Yes I had googled it, but maybe not quite well enough.

My Google search just now ( "HP Driver  5/14/2018 version 7.0.2.1" ) gave 9 results possibly including what I need

- In This Post (in this forum)  there is mention of a  W10 Hide Updates Utility  which could be what my OP was really asking for
