Hi @frank005,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To automatically switch the refresh rate on your HP Victus laptop when unplugged, you might need to adjust the power settings in Windows. Here's how you can do it.
- Open Power Options: Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Choose a Power Plan: Select the power plan you're currently using. Typically, this will be the "Balanced" or "Power Saver" plan.
- Edit Plan Settings: Click on "Change plan settings" next to the plan you've chosen.
- Change Advanced Power Settings: On the next screen, click on "Change advanced power settings."
- Find Graphics Settings: In the Advanced Settings window, scroll down and find the section related to your graphics card or display settings. It might be labeled differently based on your system, but typically it's under "Display" or "Graphics Settings."
- Adjust Refresh Rate Settings: Look for options related to refresh rate or display refresh settings. There might be options like "Refresh rate," "Dynamic refresh rate," or something similar.
- Set Options for On Battery: Within the graphics/display settings, there should be options to set different parameters for when the laptop is plugged in and when it's running on battery. Ensure that the refresh rate settings are adjusted accordingly for both scenarios.
- Save Changes: Once you've set the desired refresh rate settings for both plugged in and unplugged scenarios, click "Apply" or "OK" to save the changes.
- Test: Disconnect your laptop from the power source and observe if the refresh rate automatically switches as expected.
If you can't find the specific settings related to refresh rate or graphics in the Power Options, you might need to check your graphics driver settings. Depending on your graphics card (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel), the settings interface will vary. Look for power management options within your graphics control panel and ensure that they're configured to adjust refresh rate when on battery power.
Remember, the exact steps and options might differ slightly depending on your laptop model, Windows version, and graphics card.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
