How to boot my system from the Legacy Boot by default

HP Recommended
HP Pavilion 15 (15-cs1000TX)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello Team,

I have installed SSD along with the hard disk I got during my purchase(HDD). I have installed Windows and Ubuntu on that.

My only concern at the moment is - how to make the legacy boot order the default one so by default SSD boots and I get the boot menu to choose Windows or Ubuntu from there.

By default, it goes to UEFI one which I don't want. At the moment I press F9 to select the SSD and then I get the screen to choose.

Is there a way to set it up by default?

Please help.

Regards,

Gaurav

@gauravbhaskar84

The default mode of the PC has nothing to do with the boot media.  The boot media can be either MBR (Legacy) or GPT (UEFI) but that has nothing to do with the mode of the PC.

To check the mode, you have to go into the UEFI settings -- and you do that by pressing F10 repeatedly when you reboot.

I understand, however, when my system boots it goes to UEFI Boot Manager. How can I change to go to legacy Boot Order - means it must pick up the new SSD and boot Windows there instead of UEFI Boot Manager where I have a different Windows Installed?

When Legacy Support is enabled, UEFI boot order and Legacy boot order are both available and UEFI boot order has a higher priority than the Legacy boot order.

This is what I want to change if possible or any alternate solution.

I hope my question is clear this time.

OK, I understand the question, but the only way I know to do this is to go into the UEFI settings, disable Secure Boot, and force the mode to be Legacy(CSM).  If that does not work for your model PC, I don't know what else to tell you.

No worries, it does not boot from the legacy boot, whatever I do.

I may need to move the OS Boot manager to SSD to make this happen. Let me know if there is a way to do that with HP Pavilion. I have seen a few paid software that helps to move Boot Manager to SSD. But I want to know if there is any other way around.
